Art Nouveau Transitional Luxe Salon Reception
DESIGN BRIEF SUMMARY
This Skin & Body Clinic is a beauty salon located within a hotel in Port Macquarie and the reception area runs along the entire southern side of the space, with large, almost full height windows. The focus area of this design project is the reception area only. Being a tight space of approximately 2.3m wide x 6.8m long, thorough consideration of spatial planning was required, for this NCC Class 6 project.
Currently, zones overlap and do not provide effective functionality, flow or privacy. The salon manager expressed her main concerns are gaining a larger, more functional reception desk, as well as locating the skin scanning machine in a secluded area, and providing a more private zone for product consultations post facial. More retail display shelving and better client seating is also required. Preferred style is for the space to not feel clinical or be all beige, instead favoring a more traditional, luxe style.

DESIGN STATEMENT
As the current interior does not function well, the spatial design preference is to create better flow and privacy between zones by re-locating the entry door to the south side, also allowing for the entry door to meet the AS 1428.1:2009 regulatory requirement for a minimum 850mm wide clear opening.
PROPOSED LAYOUT PROS:
• The user-centred design offers better flow and separated zones, with a common link of the reception area.
• Accommodates a larger and more private zone for the client waiting area, with more appropriate and comfortable seating, creating a relaxed and private area for waiting clients.
• Provides privacy between clients who are waiting, and post-treatment clients who are having discussions about products and ongoing skin care solutions in the post-treatment zone.
• Provides privacy between clients who are waiting, and clients having a skin consultation where the therapist or salon manager is using the skin scanning machine.
• Relocation of the skin scanning machine to the south east wall provides more space for the reception desk, a major requirement of the client, enabling a better flow of traffic and opportunity to sell retail products.
Elomou Interiors proudly introduces a beautifully designed space reflecting an 'Art Nouveau Transitional Luxe' style. The design seamlessly integrates a user-centred approach, ensuring optimal flow and distinct zones, linked by a welcoming reception area. The private, client waiting area has been thoughtfully expanded with comfortable seating, providing a tranquil space for clients. A more spacious, custom designed reception desk, a pivotal client requirement, improves functionality and traffic flow, while enhancing retail potential.
The aesthetic exudes traditional luxury, blended with contemporary elements, through rich walnut woods, refined brass accents, and textured, floral wallpaper. Microcement walls in soothing, olive green hues, complemented by soft, warm lighting, create an inviting ambiance. A stunning custom, wood framed, antiqued mirror graces the space, adding depth and elegance, reflecting the luxurious design elements and amplifying the sense of space. Concrete-look textured flooring grounds the space, while expansive windows ensure plenty of natural light.
This design not only meets but elevates the client brief, offering a harmonious blend of luxury, timeless charm, sophistication, functionality and comfort.
