Transitional Colonial - Concept

COMMERCIAL

HEAD OFFICE • FLAGSHIP STORE • HOSPITALITY VENUE

The design is inspired by the ‘Brogue’ style of shoe, distinguished by its intricate perforations in detailed patterns. In the 1600s, where functionality was paramount, the small holes were designed to allow water to escape. The concept is influenced from a time where craftsmanship and functionality were equally valued, as well as being influenced by the site, with it’s ‘old colonial’ period architecture and the need to preserve the original structure.

Considering an existing Conservation Management Plan in place, a preservation approach is taken, being inspired by the existing structure without altering it. Taking the view of an ‘installed interiors’ response, an internal frame support structure enables a ‘loose fit’ installation, should removal be required in the future.

Particular attention is paid to the acoustics of the hospitality space, with a coffered ceiling design, inlaid with Souldlina™ perforated acoustic lining.

A focal point whiskey bar anchors the hospitality space, crowned by suspended, leather clad panels perforated with a brogue pattern motif. Warm light filters through the pattern, casting a soft glow over the bar. Seating includes plush tan leather armchairs and custom green leather banquettes, complemented by a prominent cigar humidor. The brogue detail pattern is subtly repeated in large leather pendant lighting and cabinetry doors. A custom floor to ceiling glass panel partition with French doors separates the hospitality and retail space, offering patrons visibility into the luxury footwear collection, while the whiskey bar operates as a stand alone venue.

Formal and informal work spaces invite focus, conversation and collaboration on level one, including dedicated desks, curved sofa and think tank, with a large kitchen island that doubles as a meeting area.
