HEAD OFFICE • FLAGSHIP STORE • HOSPITALITY VENUE
The design is inspired by the ‘Brogue’ style of shoe, distinguished by its intricate perforations in detailed patterns. In the 1600s, where functionality was paramount, the small holes were designed to allow water to escape. The concept is influenced from a time where craftsmanship and functionality were equally valued, as well as being influenced by the site, with it’s ‘old colonial’ period architecture and the need to preserve the original structure.
Considering an existing Conservation Management Plan in place, a preservation approach is taken, being inspired by the existing structure without altering it. Taking the view of an ‘installed interiors’ response, an internal frame support structure enables a ‘loose fit’ installation, should removal be required in the future.
Particular attention is paid to the acoustics of the hospitality space, with a coffered ceiling design, inlaid with Souldlina™ perforated acoustic lining.
