Elomou Interiors - Euro kitchen interior designINTRODUCTION

As a qualified interior designer, with a strong focus on producing quality work that results in functional and beautiful spaces, Elomou Interiors offers full service interior design.

HOW IS INTERIOR DESIGN DIFFERENT TO INTERIOR DECORATING AND STYLING?

Interior styling is the process of selecting small decor pieces to complete a room, or scene, depending on if the styling is for a client to live in, or for an editorial photo shoot. It is all about the finishing touches.

Interior decorating is where items are specified, such as paint colours, window finishes such as curtains, furniture, rugs, cushions and artwork. An entire room can be transformed using interior decorating.

Interior design views the space as a whole, whether for new builds or renovations, covering areas such as entire homes, kitchens, bathrooms, and commercial spaces. It involves every stage from the initial brief to project handover. Full-service design is deeply involved, focusing heavily on spatial planning, considering details such as use of the space, traffic flow, benchtop depths, required widths, and adherence to Australian building codes. This service includes everything from detailed briefs, mood boards, concepts, and design development to comprehensive design documentation (2D plans, elevations, sections, and 3D renders) for builders and contractors. Designers also collaborate with architects, builders and engineers for such things as new builds and wall removals, specifying every detail such as cabinetry design, finishes and handles, tiles and lay patterns, lighting and electrical design, appliances, stone selection, along with many other detailed specifications.

An interior designer can cross over between interior design, decorating and styling, but not all stylists and decorators can cross over into design. The focus of an interior designer is to create spaces that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, producing all required documentation, while meeting a client brief, through thoughtful and carefully considered design.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHYSharene Tailford Interior Designer

My focus is on creating elevated spaces that allow a feeling of connection and relaxation, with layers of meaning, revealing your story. I interweave a foundation of timeless, classic design, with an influence of organic style, in calming colour palettes. The addition of natural textures and harmonious ambiance, while balancing minimalist and nostalgic styles, achieves warm and comfortable spaces with enduring charm. Perfect for cozy, every day living and future memories, through functional and pleasing experiences.

I am committed to delivering exceptional design and making your experience seamless and enjoyable.

INTERIOR DESIGN SERVICES

I offer a personalised, full service approach for both residential and commercial interior design, focusing on mid to high end residential projects, and small scale commercial spaces. This covers new builds, renovations and refreshes. Furthermore, I can seamlessly collaborate with your architect or builder, to ensure a cohesive project and unified design approach.

My interior design services are offered in the following locations:
• In person services anywhere within two hours drive of Port Macquarie NSW
• A combination of remote and in person services anywhere within Australia, depending on the project and the location
• Remote services for international projects, which could possibly involve some in person visits, depending on the project and the location

All remote interior design services are considered on a case by case basis, depending on the project and the location.

INTERIOR DESIGN PROCESS

I implement systems and processes that help manage the project design, investment and timeframe. To address all three key points of your design project, I not only focus heavily on the design aspects, I also have touch points for your investment and timeframe throughout the design process. The purpose of the process is to build upon ideas as I receive feedback from you, to ensure the final design package meets your expectations and results in a design that is both functional and beautiful. As we move through the process, the details become more specific but it all starts with a conversation and a concept.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS?

• Phase One:  Discovery and Concept
• Phase Two:  Design and Documentation
• Phase Three:  Implementation and Design Project Consultation

My services include selecting phase one and two only, or selecting all three phases. You do not need to select phase three up front, as this can be decided upon towards the end of phase two.

Elomou Interiors - The Design Process

CAN  YOU REMOVE STAGES FROM YOUR PROCESS TO REDUCE DESIGN COSTS?

Unfortunately no. Each stage of the design process is carefully structured to ensure nothing is overlooked and that every detail is thoughtfully considered. My design approach is comprehensive, guiding the project from concept to completion. Skipping any stage could compromise the successful outcome of the project and lead to potential issues, delays and extra costs during the design or implementation stages. The process is in place to deliver a cohesive, smooth and well coordinated experience, ensuring every element is handled professionally and without compromise.

YOUR INVESTMENT

I believe that great design is an investment that enhances how you live day to day. It is my pleasure to take care of every aspect of your interior design project, supporting you throughout this creative journey and taking the interior design aspect of your project off your plate, allowing you to reclaim precious time.

Your initial briefing of a 30 to 45 minute exploration phone call is complimentary, giving us an opportunity to discuss an overview of your project and determine if we are both a good fit to work on your project together. This complimentary phone call is your next step and can be scheduled in after you have read this service guide.

Following the exploration phone call, your in person, on-site 2 hour design consultation is a flat fee of $495 incl. GST, which includes discussing details of the project to compile the brief and define the scope of works, measurements of all relevant spaces or discussion of architectural plans, along with compilation of your personalised Design and Fee proposal. This design consultation is available as a Zoom meeting, depending on the project and your location.

Everything from the Concepts & Schematics stage through to delivery of the Design Documentation at the end of Phase Two is quoted at a fixed fee, for pre-payment of each stage, all of which will be detailed in your Design and Fee Proposal.

Everything in Phase Three, Implementation & Design Project Consulting, is charged at a prepaid hourly rate, in blocks of 20 hours, all of which will be detailed in your Design and Fee Proposal.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO ENGAGE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER?

When embarking on a new build, renovation, or refresh project, the sequence of hiring your professional team can significantly impact the final outcome. Engaging an interior designer either before or at the same time as your architect or builder is crucial for a seamless and cohesive process, whether for residential or commercial design. Please read my blog on "When is the best time to engage an interior designer" to find out the seven reasons why.
